Presidential Search Announcement

The Board of Trustees of Grand Valley State University seeks the institution’s fifth president, following the announced retirement of President Thomas J. Haas in June 2019. The president reports to the Board, is the institution’s chief executive officer, and has responsibility for all strategic, financial, fundraising, and management operations. The president is also one of the region’s most visible and important community leaders. The next president will be committed to Grand Valley’s unique position as Michigan’s No. 1 ranked regional public university and must be focused on student success, superior teaching, and active scholarship. The successful candidate will be a visionary and innovative leader, advancing the university’s reputation while increasing resources from private and public partnerships. The next president will be committed to diversity and have the utmost integrity. A demonstrated record of leading a large complex organization at the most senior level is required. Advanced degrees are expected; experience in related fields will be considered.

This search will be fully confidential throughout the process. Candidates should submit materials as soon as possible, but no later than August 20, 2018. Applications will be reviewed beginning this summer. The new president is expected to begin work on July 1, 2019.
