Miller-Adam's Research appears in The White House

"At a time of intense national debate over the costs and benefits of college, local communities are finding ways to make higher education affordable and improve student outcomes. But the agenda for Promise stakeholders goes beyond college access and school improvement, as Promise programs also seek to transform the communities in which they are rooted."

On January 20, Michelle Miller-Adams, Associate Professor of Political Science, was in Washington, DC to attend a White House convening on free college programs. Led by staff from the White House Domestic Policy Council, the Department of Education, and the Council of Economic Advisers, the session was attended by leading education researchers from around the nation. The goal was to assess the state of knowledge about free college programs in light of President Obama's America's College Promise proposal. Dr. Miller-Adams's research around the impact of Promise programs was referenced throughout the meeting as an important contribution to the state of knowledge in the field.
