PLS Major wins the Thomas M. Seykora Award

Political Science major, Nancy Boyd, won the Thomas M. Seykora Award for Outstanding Contribution for 2024-25. The Seykora Award recognizes seniors who, through their involvement, have made significant contributions to the GVSU campus community.
Nancy’s contributions are numerous. She was a Cook Leadership Academy fellow, served as a Student Senate Senator, Chair for the Allocations Board, and Vice Chair of the Student Senate Election Commission. In 2022, Nancy worked at the GVSU Campus Organizer for the Scholten House of Representatives campaign. In 2023, Nancy won the Paul B. Henry Congressional Fellowship awarded by the Political Science Department, which supported her fall internship in Representative Scholten’s Washington, D.C. office. In addition, Nancy participated in Student Scholars Day in 2025.
Nancy graduated from GVSU this winter and is working in Representative Scholten’s Grand Rapids office as a Political Advisor.
