Sheila Garcia

Sheila Garcia graduated magna cum laude from GVSU in 2014 with an international relations major and an East Asia studies minor. While at GVSU, Sheila studied abroad in Japan and interned at the West Michigan Refugee Education and Cultural Center.

Sheila is now working on her master’s degree in library and information science while employed at the Grand Rapids Public Library.  Recently Sheila Garcia was named a Spectrum Scholar by the American Library Association. She has also become a member of REFORMA, that National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish speaking population. Shelia wants to continue to help underprivileged groups access and connect with resources provided through the public library.
