Engineering Employee Receives Servant Leadership Community Engagement Professionals Award

Ryan Aldridge, operations manager for the Innovation Design Center, was one of four Grand Valley community members recognized for their civic contributions by Campus Compact of Michigan, a 24-member coalition of institutions dedicated to expanding opportunities for civic engagement and community service.

Ryan received the Servant Leadership Community Engagement Professionals Award and will be considered for the CCMI Champion of Engagement Award. Ryan serves as advisor to the GVSU Solar Racing Team and is active in other outreach activities for the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing. Aldridge helped establish the PCEC Medical Mask Project, leading campus and community members to design and sew nearly 1,000 masks for medical professionals in West Michigan.

"When there is a need within the college or the community, Ryan is often one of the first people to step up by volunteering his time and talents," said Dr. Paul Plotkowski, Dean of the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing. "He is a dedicated employee who consistently makes a positive impact both in the workplace and in the community. Ryan’s efforts have been instrumental in helping PCEC form reciprocal and impactful campus-community partnerships."
