GVSU Out of State Scholarship

In-State Tuition for Chicago and Toledo Students

We are pleased to be able to offer all admitted Chicago, Illinois, and Toledo, Ohio, undergraduate students admitted to Grand Valley after the Fall 2021 semester a scholarship to cover the extra cost of being a non-Michigan resident. This is an award valued at approximately $5,700 per year and it will automatically renew for up to 4 years. All admitted undergraduate students from Chicago or Toledo high schools will receive this award. The scholarship will be awarded after admission to Grand Valley.

How does the GVSU Out of State Scholarship work?

It's simple!

  • Attend a high school with a Chicago, Illinois, or Toledo, Ohio, address 
  • Apply to GVSU
  • Be accepted.
  • File the FAFSA.
  • That's it! The scholarship will be automatically applied to your account after you are admitted to GVSU.
