Registration Guides

SSD 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of our annual celebration of student research, scholarship, and creative work at GVSU. Like many traditions in the past year, modifications have been made to the celebration to accommodate our virtual environment and meet the needs of the GVSU community. This year SSD will be celebrated over a period of two weeks. The program will encompass recorded student presentations, faculty moderated sessions and extended sessions, as well as plenaries featuring distinguished alumni across the disciplines. Notable changes are below:

Changes to student presentation types: SSD will support recorded presentations, of no more than 30 minutes in length, via the Symposium platform. The presentations will be available for viewing and comment for 2 weeks. These presentations can be poster presentations with a voice over, or recorded slide presentations. Students will be asked to provide a YouTube link for submission. Students who would like to submit creative work should contact OURS, so we can work to accommodate their films and exhibits.

Expanded faculty-hosted sessions: Similar to SSD 2020, faculty will have the ability to curate and moderate sessions. These sessions will be live and held on Wednesday, April 14 and are an hour in length. This year, we are also offering extended sessions. This presentation type is similar to a traditional session, however extended sessions are longer in length. The extended session was created to accommodate classes and departments that need additional time beyond one hour. Faculty interested in hosting an extended session should contact OURS for more information.

Change in registration schedule and timeline: The registration period for SSD has been moved back to accommodate the new semester schedule and the online environment. Please note the new schedule below:
