Hello Music Lovers!

This year, Grand Valley’s MTNA Collegiate Chapter will be hosting a “Meet the Composers” Day!

This event will be an exciting chance for students to learn about music history, composers, and perform a piece by one of their favorite composers!

The day will consist of multiple hour-long masterclasses given by members of the GVSU Piano Pedagogy Certificate Program and MTNA Collegiate Chapter.  Masterclasses will be comprised of 8-12 students, depending on the size of the room or hall.  We will follow Covid guidelines with students in large rooms or halls throughout the day, all wearing masks.  GVSU pianists will perform some of their favorite piano works while teaching music history.  There will be lots of fun facts about composers for students to learn and music to listen to!   Parents and teachers are encouraged to attend the day.

A lunch for students will be provided at 12:15 pm, and the day will end with a final concert at 1:00 pm!

Before each student performance, each student will say something about the composer whose piece they are playing.

The Registration fee is $15 per student.

We hope to see you here on April 23!

Sincerely,

Grand Valley’s MTNA Collegiate Chapter

Dr. Helen Marlais, Advisor and Director of Piano Pedagogy
