Description
The GVSU Saxophone Studio is very excited to announce the launch of the Michigan Saxophone Summit. This yearly event at Grand Valley's Allendale campus will bring the finest performers and pedagogues from across the state together for masterclasses, panel discussions, and performances.
This year's summit, on April 22, 2018 will feature Grand Valley's Saxophone Professor Dan Graser in recital and leading a masterclass for high school saxophonists. International soloist and Professor of Saxophone at the University of Michigan, Timothy McAllister, will present a recital and masterclass for GVSU's undergraduate saxophonists.
And to close out the day, University of Michigan's Jazz Department Chair and Professor of Jazz Saxophone, Andrew Bishop will give a performance and masterclass for GV's jazz combos. The middle of the day will feature a panel discussion with these artists on careers in music, auditioning for music school, saxophone performance/pedagogy, and the development of the modern saxophone.
This is an event not to be missed for any student from beginning band
through collegiate study!
