Based on student interests and suggestions we offer selected topic courses (FIT 180 or FIT 280). Look for these classes when you register in Banner. Based on the enrollment and popularity of each course, it has the potential to become a permanent FIT Course.
One Credit Classes:
FIT 180 Fitness Walking - Online (soon to be FIT 114): This course is fully online - asynchronous, which means students will be responsible for the content on Blackboard and for walking for fitness portion of classes within their own personal schedules. There are weekly reading and writing assignments and quizzes along with a weekly step goal of 50,000 steps/week. This course is only offered in a 7 week format. Students will be required to purchase a wrist-worn activity tracking device of their choosing.
FIT 180 Yoga-Pilates Fusion: This course provides a combination of the knowledge, skill, and application of Yoga postures and breathing techniques and the knowledge, skill, and application of Pilates strengthening exercises. This fusion method brings the benefits of both fitness forms together in one complete workout.
FIT 180 Calisthenics - Body Weight Workout: This course provides knowledge, skill, and application of progressive calisthenics using body weight for personal fitness. Instruction will also incorporate how to use the indoor/outdoor environments to facilitate and expand workout methods.
FIT 180 Pickleball (winter 2022 semester): This course provides knowledge, skill, and application of Pickleball. Students will learn rules, tactics, and the fundamental skills including forehand, backhand, serve, and volley.
FIT 180 Futsal (winter 2022 semester): This course provides knowledge, skill, and application of Futsal (an indoor Soccer game). Students will learn rules, tactics, and the fundamental skills including passing, receiving, dribbling, shooting, and goalkeeping.
Two Credit Classes:
FIT 280 Lifetime Fitness (hybrid meeting once a week face to face and asynchronous learning modules online): Course provides instruction in fitness and wellness for a lifetime pursuit. Instruction will incorporate components of physical fitness, goal setting, and how socio-emotional factors impact fitness motivation. Students will meet face to face once a week, do self-selected weekly fitness activities, and complete online learning modules.
