Minors: Arabic and Middle East Studies

During her time as an undergraduate student, Amber pursued French, Arabic and Middle East studies. She was able to study abroad in Morocco and France with help from the Padnos International Center and Frederik Meijer Office of Fellowships. After graduating from Grand Valley in 2017, Amber returned to France and visited Egypt to maintain her language proficiency and prepare her for her journey as a graduate student in the Department of French and Francophone Studies at the University of California Los Angeles. At UCLA, Amber focuses on Francophone Middle East & North Africa, representations of ‘the Other’ in French literature & arts, and Post/Decolonialism studies. She looks forward to returning to France and hopes to visit other French-speaking countries. Ultimately she hopes to be a professor.
