Michigan Works Educational Funding

The purpose of this website is to give you a comprehensive overview of how funding for educational programs through Michigan Works is handled at Grand Valley State University.  This might include any of the following programs:

  • Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
  • Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS)
  • Trade Adjustment Act (TAA)
  • No Worker Left Behind (NWLB)

We have divided the site into 2 separate categories: students who are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree will select "Degree Seeking Students" on the top navigation bar.  Students who are pursuing certificate programs will select "Non-Degree Certificate" also on the top navigation bar.

GVSU's goal is to provide you with information, direction and process you need to follow to receive Michigan Works assistance.

For this information to be correct you MUST have started at the Michigan Works! agency. Click here for additional information about Michigan Works funding.

**Please note: The funding process can be lengthy.  GVSU does not control the length of time it takes to approve your program OR the amount of funding you receive.  Receiving your funds can take several months to come through.  Following the instructions on this website will ensure that the process and paperwork for GVSU to complete is done as quickly as possible.
