The Midwest Interprofessional Collaborative  invites submissions of abstracts for virtual presentations at the 16th Annual Interprofessional Education Conference. MIPERC is an inter-institutional infrastructure dedicated to integrating interprofessional practice with education in the Midwest region.

  • Submission Deadline: May 31, 2025

Conference Objectives:  

  1. Examine innovative strategies for interprofessional education, research, and practice

  2. Empower practitioners with the skills needed to incorporate IPE principles into daily clinical decision-making and leadership roles

  3. Evaluate and share wellbeing strategies to support interprofessional teams

 

Who should submit an abstract?
Healthcare professionals, administrators, students, researchers, educators, and policymakers with an interest in advancing interprofessional practice, education, and research.

 

Presentation Types:

The Oral Presentation Session [30 minutes]
In line with the conference objectives, share information on IPE/IPC. A broad range of topics is encouraged, such as:

  • Current or in-progress research, including strategies for use of the core competencies

  • Reflections and representations of innovative and emerging IPE and IPC practices

  • Approaches to collaborating with practicing professionals and inter-agency collaboration

  • Approaches to well-being integration 

The purpose of the Oral Presentation Session is to encourage interaction and informal communication between presenters and conference participants.

 

Roundtable Presentation Session [60 minutes]
In line with the conference objectives, discuss information about interprofessional practices and application of the core competencies.  Topics may include: 

  • Current or in-progress research, including strategies for use of the core competencies

  • Reflections and representations of innovative and emerging IPE and IPC practices

  • Approaches to collaborating with practicing professionals and inter-agency collaboration

  • Approaches to well-being integration
     

Ten Minute Brief [10 minutes]

In line with the conference objectives, 10-minute briefs invite discussion and oral presentation of focused topics related to IPE and IPC with a format of using three powerpoint slides to describe, explain, and discuss research, strategies, and uses of IPE/IPC. These sessions are presented consecutively.

 

Pecha Kucha [7 minutes]
Tell a Story. Select a topic for your story:

  • Health journey: Share your personal or a patient/client journey with an emphasis in engagement with interprofessional teams

  • Wellbeing: the resilience and wellness journey for healthcare professionals and care teams

A Pecha Kucha presentation uses 20 slides or images, displayed for 20 seconds each, totaling 7 minutes. Pecha Kucha presentations focus on storytelling through images. Examples can be found here: Pecha Kucha website

 

Abstract Guidelines:

  • Title:

  • Identify conference objective

  • Identify conference strand (Education, Practice, Research)

  • 50 word abstract to be included in program 

  • Identify format (Oral Presentation, Roundtable Presentation, Ten Minute Brief, Pecha Kucha)

 

Oral Presentations and Roundtable Presentations will also require the following within the abstract submission: 

  • 150 word summary of content (describe the research or project). This may include:

    • Background, methods, findings, discussion, next steps

    • Strategy description including resources needed

    • Description of project with outcomes

    • Description of a topic for discussion

    • Roundtable topic with plan for discussion

  • Provide 3 learning objectives

  • Brief description of how participants will be engaged in discussion
