We are excited to launch our latest initiative with Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation titled "Adopt - A - Bed", where we have challenged the Grand Rapids tourism community to help manage the issues facing our parks department! With 74 parks, and a full time staff of eight, it is no wonder elements in our parks including the flower beds, have little to no attention. Of these parks, 26 have flower beds in need of help. Ten of these parks are downtown and irrigated, therefore our goal is to have the multiple beds per park adopted by tourism organizations, and assist these organizations with planting and filling the beds during National Tourism Week in May.
We are thrilled to announce that Experience Grand Rapids, the Kent County Hospitality Association, and Grand Valley State University are partnering with us and Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation on this effort. We are incredibly excited about this initiative as it will allow individual tourism organizations to have their staff/team volunteer and give back, reaping the many benefits of corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Use the information and map to learn about the program and see which beds are still available.
Once the beds in the 10 parks outlined on the map are sold, we will offer beds in the other parks.
