Dyer-Ives Foundation Records

The Dyer-Ives Foundation records span from 1961 to 2016, and document the philanthropic activities of the Grand Rapids-based non-profit organization. Founded by John Hunting, the organization funded projects related to the humanities, art and cultural programs, education, the environment, employment, housing and shelter, youth development services, human services, community development, neighborhood development, philanthropy and voluntarism. Dyer-Ives Foundation focused its efforts on building and strengthening grassroots projects in the Grand Rapids city center. The records, contained in approximately 59 record cartons, include grant files, financial records, annual reports, donor history files, and scrapbooks. Additions to the collection are anticipated in December 2016 and in 2020/2021, when the most recent grant files and financial records are no longer needed by the organization and its accountants for tax purposes.
The records are scheduled for processing in the Fall 2016 semester, with the goal of making a full finding aid available online in Winter/Spring 2017.
