The Lemmen Library and Archives
January 15, 2025
Special Collections and University Archives are now the Lemmen Library and Archives. They remain in the Seidman House in the Great Lakes Academic Buildings Plaza. Seidman House is also home to a quiet study lounge and exhibition hall.
The Lemmen Library is named after GVSU benefactor Harvey Lemmen. In 2000, he donated funds for the expansion of Seidman House. He donated nearly 30,000 volumes representing his eclectic interests including works on President Lincoln, the Civil War, slavery, Michigan and the Great Lakes, and Lewis Carroll.
The Lemmen Library promotes critical thinking, historical empathy, and primary source literacy. We love partnering with GVSU faculty to integrate our collections into coursework. Want to see how the Lemmen Library can help support your classes?
