Description

We are excited to be joined by Diane Rayor, Professor Emerita of Classics at Grand Valley State University (bio below) to celebrate the release of her new book, "Sappho: A New Translation of the Complete Works." Diane will introduce us to Sappho, the earliest and most famous Greek woman poet, and issues of translating gender markers into English. 

Diane Rayor Bio:

Diane co-founded the Classics Department in 2000, and received the Niemeyer Outstanding Faculty Award (2011) and the Women’s Commission Women’s Impact Award (2014). Her second edition of Sappho: A New Translation of the Complete Works (Cambridge University Press, paperback Feb. 2023) includes more poems and an audio recording by Kate Reading.
