Listen to current Talent Link Scholars share their own experiences.
THE SOLUTION
As a student, you will be participating in an innovative program that will develop your skills in emerging fields, provide a paid internship, and an opportunity for post-graduation employment.
THE RESULTS
Illustrated by GVSU's symbiotic relationship with the West Michigan economy, participating students and our partner companies will address workforce concerns through a diverse pool of well-prepared, thought-leading professionals, while helping to shape an innovative work & learning program.
THE ISSUE
How can our community address the labor concerns of the present by doubling down on our investment in local talent - the main driver of strong, sustainable economic growth in West Michigan?
How Does The Program Work?
Employer Sponsored Scholarship
Talent Link Scholars receive an employer-sponsored scholarship applied to academic tuition to support the completion of a certificate program within the bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: asset management (real estate), business analytics, technical sales, business fundamentals, applied data analytics, ERP, or project management. See the certification page for details.
Co-Curricular Cohort and Paid Internship
Talent Link scholars will participate in
- A co-curricular cohort focused on vocation, leadership development, financial literacy, and life skills. These areas are essential to workplace readiness and will help the onboarding experience be a smooth transition.
- A paid internship with the employer sponsor for approximately 20 hours per week in a department utilizing skills developed in the certification program.
Post-Graduation Work
If positions are available and the internship is completed, students may receive employment offers. Student participants who receive full-time employment offers will be asked to commit in good faith to at least one (1) year of continual employment immediately following Program completion.
