The easiest way to get to GVSU is to fly into Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids. Although it is called an international airport, there are no international direct flights so you will come into the United States at a major port of entry. When you make your reservations, make them all the way to Grand Rapids. The airport code is GRR.

The airport is to the east of Grand Rapids and the university is west of Grand Rapids, so the airport is about twenty-five miles from the university, with no bus or train service. Therefore, if you wish to be met at the airport and driven to campus, you must let us know the time and date of your flight. We will do our best to accommodate your flight arrival.

Every year, some students fly into Chicago and then try to take the train to Grand Rapids. This is very difficult since there is only one train every day that arrives in Grand Rapids from Chicago. Additionally, the airport in Chicago is a long distance from the Train Station. Please do not try this method, we have had too many students stranded in Chicago!

IMPORTANT: Do not arrive unannounced at the Allendale campus or in Grand Rapids. After 5:00 p.m. weekdays or on the weekend, all offices are closed. There will not be anyone to meet you, and you will not have a place to spend the night. You will have to get a motel room for the night and then contact our office between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
