Internship at Imperial CRS - Export Compliance Specialist

The position is responsible for assisting with shipments crossing international borders. The primary responsibility is to ensure that the export shipment adheres to customs regulations, including preparing all logistics documents associated with exporting of goods. Daily communication with internal and external contacts including project managers, project assistant, distribution services, small parcel couriers, freight forwarders to support, explanation, and clarification of details necessary to accurately complete all international shipments.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:

  • Responsible for processing all international documents for export ensuring they are in compliance with customs rules and regulations.

  • Capable of counseling clients on matters of custom clearance and export regulations.

  • Daily communication with project managers, project assistants, distribution department, couriers

    and freight forwarders regarding compliance and shipment issues.

  • Providing Pre-Approval Notification for informal & formal clearance exports.

  • Tracking and managing of complex exports to ensure door to door service.

  • Learn and follow global logistics and compliance of Schedule B / HTS Codes and INCOTERMS


Experience: Associates Degree or 2-4 years’ experience

Computer Skills

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
Ability to conduct internet research and navigate government websites.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and communications.

Excellent problem solving skills.
Detail and deadline oriented.
Excellent organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Excellent follow up skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Able to demonstrate quality control—must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and must be able to work independently.
Strong emphasis on international transactions and trade compliance.
