Description

This workshop will explore the role environmental racism plays in creating unequal opportunities and life experiences for some while privileging others. Communities of color in the United States experience a disproportionate share of environmental risks and burdens. We will highlight groups and individuals who are working on the front lines to dismantle environmental injustice in Michigan. We will also explore how we can be better allies for change.

Facilitator: Diane Melvin (she/her/hers), Religious Education Director of People's Church of Kalamazoo

Diane Melvin has an MA in Environmental Studies from the University of Illinois and a BA  in American Studies from the University of Minnesota.
