Things To Do After Your Appointment

Get Your Student ID - All Grand Valley State University students are issued identification (ID) cards during their first semester on campus and are expected to carry them while on University grounds and at University functions. Students are expected to show their ID card whenever they check out books at the library, cash checks on campus, enter the Recreation Center, are requested by food service staff, vote in student elections, ride the Rapid bus for free, etc., or when they are requested to do so by a member of the faculty or staff of the University when they identify themselves and state the reasons for their request. The ID card is not to be altered, loaned or borrowed.  Student ID cards are available at all GVSU Student Services locations, including the regional campuses. Student Services is located on the Allendale campus at 150 Student Services Building and on the Grand Rapids Campus at 115C DeVos.  Replacement cards can be obtained at all Student Services Locations, students will be charged $15.00 for a replacement card.

Schedule a Meeting with Your Academic Advisor - There is a difference between your Professional Advisor and your Academic Advisor.  Please read the following document to learn the difference.  To find out who your academic advisor is, please view the following video!

Send GVSU Your Final Official Transcripts/MACARO agreement - You must send GVSU this information, your former school will not automatically send the transcripts.  If receiving MACARO agreement, be sure that your MACRAO stamp is posted to your final transcript.  Remember that the MACARO covers Gen Ed, Foundations, WRT 150 and SWS requirements.

Pay Your Tuition on Time - To find the payment due dates please read the Important Dates document published by the Registrar's office.  Contact the Financial Aid office concerning your student account well in advance of the payment due date.

Order Your Parking Permit - All parking lots on the GVSU campuses require parking permits.  To order a parking permit please follow this LINK.

Become Familiar with the Campus - Tours are available through the Admissions office, please call 616-331-2025 to arrange for a tour.  Or, get a campus map and go on a self tour, find out where your classes will be held before the start of the semester.
