Winter 2017 Colloquia announced

A message from Danielle Lake:

As a part of the Division of Inclusion and Equity’s mission to build capacity for intersectional, social justice based community-engagement at Grand Valley, the Division is cosponsoring GVSU's second colloquia series on community-based learning.

  1. The first session—Surviving the Integration of Teaching, Research, and Scholarship—is on February 3rd at 10 am in the Bicycle Factory, room 340 and features faculty from Social Work, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Liberal Studies.
  2. The second session—Developing and Sustaining Partnerships—will provide participants with strategies for community partnerships (among other topics). This session is on February 24th at 10 am in the Bicycle Factory, room 340.
  3. The third session on March 31st at 10 am (Bicycle Factory, room 340) focuses on Evaluating Community Based Learning and includes faculty, community, and student presenters.
  4. The fourth session — Preparing for Community Based Research and Scholarship at GVSU is on April 7th at 10 am in the Bicycle Factory, room 340.

This series may also help participants engage faculty from across GVSU in exploring future possible connections between the work of the Division centers and engaged GVSU curriculum.

Dr. Lake, assistant professor of Liberal Studies, is a Faculty Associate in the Division of Inclusion and Equity.
