HTM 222 – Introduction to Lodging Management
Rachel Kammer, CTA, is an adjunct instructor for the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM). Rachel has approximately 9 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has worked various hotel positions for several different Marriott properties in multiple markets on the west side of Michigan. As a proud Grand Valley State University graduate, Rachel completed her degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minor in Business Administration in 2012 and was a four-year member and scholarship recipient on the Varsity Swimming and Diving team.
Currently, Rachel is the General Manager at the award-winning Residence Inn Grand Rapids Airport where she manages a staff of 25 and oversees the day to day operations of the hotel. Rachel serves as the Events and Communication Committee Chair for Women in Leadership, is a board member for Experience Grand Rapids and volunteers in her community with various organizations. Rachel was the 2019 recipient of the Joe Tomaselli Hotelier of the Year Award presented by Experience Grand Rapids. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, playing sports and exploring the city. She lives in Grand Rapids with her husband and two furbabies, Nala and Ruxin.
