HTM 222 – Introduction to Lodging Management

Mrs. Crowther brings over 15 years of hospitality experience managing hotels and resorts in Mount Pleasant, Colorado and Grand Rapids.  She has served in various positions in her professional career including: Assistant General Manager, Banquet Supervisor, General Manager, Complex General Manager and Area General Manager.

In April 2016, Mrs. Crowther was presented with the prestigious Joe Tomaselli Hotelier of the Year award. The award honors distinguished service in the West Michigan hospitality industry.  Rachel also serves as a board member with Experience Grand Rapids and is on the executive board for the Kent County Hospitality Association.  In 2013, her hotel won Marriott’s Community Service Hotel of the Year for its’ volunteer work with various local organizations.

In her spare time Rachel plays on Grand Rapids only roller derby team GRRD as a hard-hitting blocker on both the Attack and travel team.  Rachel also enjoys spending time outdoors camping, hiking, running and biking with her husband Dan and two daughters Teagan and Aspen.
