The Hyatt Place Grand Rapids South Education Foundation Scholarship was established to celebrate the grand opening of the Hyatt Place Grand Rapids – South, which is an innovative hotel designed for today’s business travelers.  The hotel has a strong relationship with GVSU’s Hospitality and Tourism Management program, as 25% of their staff is affiliated with Grand Valley State University.

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize Grand Valley’s Hospitality and Tourism Management program for preparing quality professionals who are pursuing careers in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

"As the 2014-2015 recipient of the Hyatt Place Grand Rapids South Scholarship, I was directly able to place more focus on my classes, job, and other commitments that come with being a Hospitality and Tourism Management student at Grand Valley. As a senior, I truly appreciate everything that the HTM program has offered me in terms of opportunities throughout the last four years. There are countless moments that have shown me how great the professors, internships, and classwork is, and how this program is one-of-a-kind. This scholarship allowed me to focus on maximizing all of that, including my international class at the Cannes Film Festival in France at the end of the year. My future career goals include working with international events or brands. I would also like to be involved in the hospitality industry within a surfing or coastal setting and return to Australia where I studied abroad."
