Description
From sandy beaches to city nightlife, Michigan has a lot to offer people looking for a getaway. However, the tourist experience has never been the same for everyone. Learn more about how race has shaped travel and leisure in the state. Black Tourism in West Michigan explores how recreation and tourism in the region has been a fundamentally different experience for Black Americans, and how the culture and practices of the area shape how people have been able to interact with nature in the Great Lakes State. GVSU class of 2010 graduate Dani Willcutt, a current doctor student of History at Michigan State University, will share her ongoing research on the subject.
This live, INT 100/201-approved Zoom webinar is on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 from 10:00 - 11:15 am (EST). Register to attend at: http://www.gvsu.edu/kutsche/RegisterBTWM.
