HTM 190 – Field Preparation
Brooke Finlan, CTA is an adjust instructor for the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM). Brooke is a hospitality and property management expert with approximately 18 years of experience throughout the Midwest. As a General Manager with Rockford Construction, she manages two large properties in downtown Grand Rapids: GRid70 and Blue35. Brooke oversees the day-to-day operations of these innovative coworking, office and meeting venues, and also manages and mentors the amazing four hospitality staff members who work there.
Prior to her position with Rockford Construction, Brooke worked in the property management industry in Chicago, IL, managing high-rise condominium buildings along the lakeshore. This position required an intense attention to detail, as she managed all things high-rise: projects, employees and million dollar budgets.
As a proud Grand Valley State University graduate, Brooke completed her degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minor in Business Administration in 2002. With her lodging emphasis, she has worked every position imaginable at three different hotels, the last position bringing her back home to Grand Rapids to serve as the General Manager of a local property.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, reading, sleeping (hence two sons), hiking, yoga and being a huge fan of the greatest city in Michigan: Grand Rapids.
