Leadership Training on Campus that Incorporates Mindfulness
Human Resources invites you to participate in leadership development programs. It is the goal of these programs to assist individual staff members to not only meet professional development goals, but to work toward professional excellence. The Open Hearts, Open Mind series consists of two trainings, Leadership and Self-Deception and Emotional Strength Training. These two trainings combine leadership and mindful awareness of self. Program Descriptions
The purpose of this series is to provide comprehensive programming on specific leadership competencies identified by members of the University’s leadership teams. These competencies were selected as fundamental to success at GVSU for AP staff who mentor and lead others. The format will combine online and in-person programming and participants should expect to have assignments outside of the in-person programs. Assignments may include webinars and quizzes from Leadership IQ. Program Overview
PSS Development Programs
The PSS Development Committee provides workshops that will assist in many training and learning opportunities to enhance professional development. The workshops consist of two different types: Technical (i.e. Spreadsheets, Access, Powerpoint, SIS Training, Specialized Departmental Training) and Non-Technical (i.e. Conflict Management, Interpersonal Communication, Cultural Diversity). The committee also mentors new PSS Staff members by being a source of information and another campus contact.
University Counseling Outreach
University counseling staff members are available to lead or collaborate on a variety of presentations, programs, and events across the campus. If your group of students or campus organization would benefit from outreach programming, please submit a request.
Outreach topics include friendships, relationship, and time management.
