Spring/Summer Housing 2017

Living on campus for spring/summer is affordable & easy. Housing & Residence Life staff will work with you to transition smoothly between living units, and there is no charge to stay on campus between contract-periods (see "Semester Transition Information" below). Move-In for Spring/Summer is May 6th & 7th if you are not transitioning between contract periods. You can still apply for Spring/Summer Housing! Click here to apply!

Application Instructions

  1. Submit a $150 deposit if you do not already have one on file with the University.

  2. Log into the MyHousing Application in Banner and complete the Spring/Summer 2017 housing application.

  3. Indicate your roommate and living style preferences in the MyHousing Overview. Space is limited at the Pew Campus. Students who have Pew Campus as their first choice will be given notice if they have been placed there by the end of March. If you are planning on living on the Allendale Campus, you will be put into a Room Selection Process after Pew Campus students have been assigned, which means that you will be able to pick your own room. This will happen at the end of March/beginning of April and you will be notified by email. 

  4. Email myhousing@gvsu.edu with any roommate requests. Include roommate(s) name, student number and the semester you are requesting them for. Do not use the Roommate/Suitemate tab to enter roommate information for Spring Summer 2017. Roommate requests must be submitted by March 10 for consideration.


Contract Terms

The Spring/Summer semester 2017 contract period is either a 6-week option or 12-week option:

6-week: May 8, 2017 through June 22, 2017.

6-week: June 26, 2017 through August 9, 2017.

12-week: May 8, 2017 through August 9, 2017. 

Note: Residents must be a GVSU student, enrolled in classes for the Winter semester 2017 and/or the Fall 2017 semester. Enrollment in Spring/Summer classes is not required for occupancy. Students securing a Spring/Summer semester 2017 housing assignment after May 9 will be charged a pro-rated daily housing rate. 

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Prior to Occupancy

  • Cancellation must be received prior to May 1, 2017 to be eligible for a refund of the $150 housing deposit.

Cancellation During Occupancy

A student interested in canceling their contract must contact their Living Center Director to obtain a Contract Release Request Form. Contract releases during occupancy will be reviewed individually. Releases will be granted for academic related circumstances only. Residents who do not qualify for a release may exercise the buyout option, paying 50% of remaining portion of the contract in addition to the forfeiture of the $150 housing deposit.


Important Dates/Deadlines

September 2016: Spring/Summer semester 2017 Application Available.

Mid to Late February, 2017: Spring/Summer semester 2017 Housing Rates Posted.

March 10, 2017: Preferred deadline to submit a Spring/Summer semester 2017 Housing Application and request roommate(s). Students are placed in application date order.

Mid April- 2017: Spring/Summer semester 2017 housing assignments posted on the MyHousing Overview.

April 28, 2017: Winter Semester 2017 housing contract ends. Residents not approved for Extended Stay must check out of their housing assignment by 10pm Friday, April 28.

May 1, 2017: Deadline to cancel Spring/Summer semester 2017 housing contract without penalty. Cancellation charges will apply to Spring/Summer semester 2017 contract cancellations received after May 1, 2017.

May 6-7, 2017: Spring Semester and Spring/Summer Semester Check-In

May 8, 2017: Spring Semester 2017 classes begin

June 20-21, 2017: Spring Semester Final Examinations

June 22, 2017: Check-Out (1st Six Weeks)

June 24-25, 2017: Check-In (2nd Six Weeks)

June 26, 2017: Summer Semester 2017 classes begin

August 7-8, 2017: Summer Semester Final Examinations.

August 9, 2017: Spring/Summer semester 2017 housing contract ends. Residents not transitioning to a Fall 2017 on-campus housing assignment must check out of housing assignment by 10pm Tuesday, August 8, 2017.


Front Desk & Mail/Package Location & Hours

The Mail/Package and Front Desk Locations for the Summer will be in located at Winter Hall & South E Desk. The Ravines Mail/Package Center will continue all operations until May 8.  

Hours of Operation:

Monday-Friday 8am-8pm

Saturday-Sunday 10am-6pm*

*Winter Hall to be open until 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays during the month of May to accommodate for intern check-in
