First Year Residential Experience

Welcome to the First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE)!

Through FYRE, residents will experience a rich, out of the classroom experience that focuses on individual development and a greater connection to the campus community. With a focus on academic excellence, social justice, and civic engagement, FYRE provides a place for first year students to learn about themselves, their peers, and GVSU.

Goals of FYRE

  1. Developing a more integrated, residential co-curricular experience for first-year students
  2. Enhancing support structures; connecting students to needed support
  3. Establishing and maintaining peer relationships and social connection
  4. Providing consistent, integrated communication plan.
