Marketing Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the University and Department. 

  • Capture content that will be used for social campaigns and marketing efforts. 

  • Assist with creating content strategies. 

  • Assist with content creation. 

  • Assist with gathering and giving an analysis of qualitative and quantitative marketing data. 

  • Assist part-time with answering phones, responding to emails, and completing other administrative/clerical tasks in the Central Housing Office at the Central Housing Office front desk. 

  • Assist with filing, organization, and scanning of confidential residential files and inventory in the Central Housing Office. 

  • Assist with tasks such as Housing tours, Housing events, residential programs, and other promotional activities. 

  • Provide excellent customer service, coordinating appropriate response to residential concerns and facilities issues. 

  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality at all scheduled work shifts, meetings, and training. 

  • Utilize technology to perform job duties including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Meta Business Suite, Twitter, TikTok, and GVSU website. 

  • Ability to manage low-level emergency/crisis response situations. 

  • Abide by FERPA regulations; maintaining the confidentiality of student records. 

  • Abide by Clery and Responsible Employee regulations; serving as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) which includes specific training, notification of role, and reporting responsibilities. 

  • Abide by Housing and Residence Life, Student Code, Information Technology, and other University policies, conditions, and guidelines. 

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s). 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Current Grand Valley State University student. 

  • Good academic and disciplinary standing. 

  • On-campus resident (at hire; returning employees are not required to live on campus). 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Meta Business Suite, Canva, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, as well as general computer literacy. 

  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with students, parents, customers, team members, and supervisors via written and verbal mediums. 

  • Ability to provide positive interactions with individuals inside and outside the department. 

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to recognize and seize an opportunity outside of traditional working hours. 

  • Available to work approximately 10-20 hours per week during the academic year (Fall and Winter terms). On-campus student employees cannot exceed 25 hours a week (20 hours a week for international students).  

  • Available to work approximately 30-40 hours per week during the Spring/Summer terms.  

  • Candidates with Work Study status through their financial aid award are preferred, but it is not a requirement.  

  • Available for job training before Fall 2022 courses begin.
