DESCRIPTION:All alumni are invited to start Homecoming day off right with a tasty brunch\, mimosa\, and conversation with a panel of fellow alumni.\n\n\n\nThe panel will discuss their study abroad experiences and how it impacted their lives.\n\n\n\nAlison McManus Walters\, &#39\;73\, studied abroad in the summer of 1971 in Klagenfurt\, Austria. Over the course of her career Alison worked in three Michigan public school systems as a teacher and librarian before retiring in 2008. She and her husband were both teachers\, which allowed them to travel all over the world on school vacations and in retirement. They still live in Michigan and fly just about everywhere except the annual driving trips to Arizona to visit the grandchildren.\n\n\n\nNaveen Kamireddi\, &#39\;08\, is the Vice President of Operations at NxGen MDx. NxGen is a biotech company based in Grand Rapids and is involved in Genetic testing for the most commonly inherited disorders. In his role\, Naveen is responsible for all sample logistics\, pre and post lab operations. NxGen is his third biotech startup since graduating from GVSU in 2008. He has a master&rsquo\;s degree in cell and molecular biology with an emphasis in Biotechnology from GVSU and  his bachelor&rsquo\;s degree in industrial biotechnology from Anna University\, India. Naveen has lived in Grand Rapids for the last 12 years and considers it his home away from home. \n\n\n\nMeaghann Myers-Smith\, &#39\;02 &amp\; &#39\;08\, may have been voted least likely to study abroad in high school\, but as a GVSU student she studied in the Dominican Republic\, Mexico\, China\, and El Salvador. She is now the Study Abroad Adviser for the Padnos International Center at Grand Valley where she is responsible for counseling all students in their choice of location\, academic program\, and class line-up. She also serves as a liaison to all other academic advisors across campus. She is fluent in Spanish as a second language and outside of work she is the mother of three\, a pop culture maven\, and can often be heard asking &ldquo\;where are my&hellip\;&rdquo\; followed by keys\, phone\, or purse.\n\n\n\nKhayree Williams\, &#39\;02 &amp\; &#39\;04\, is the Assistant Dean of the Multicultural Student Development Office at Calvin College. He serves as a facilitator for campus-wide cultural competency programs and training initiatives while also focusing on completion for historically underserved populations. Khayree&rsquo\;s professional experiences range from his current role at Calvin College to formerly serving in several non-profits roles and positions at Ferris State University and Grand Valley State University. While at Grand Valley\, he participated in the Mexico CSAL Cultural Immersion study abroad trip. He earned both his Bachelor&rsquo\;s in Business Administration and Master&rsquo\;s in College Student Leadership from Grand Valley State University and will be defending his dissertation to conclude his doctoral coursework in Ferris State University&rsquo\;s Doctorate in Community College Leadership Program in 2020. \n\n\n\n-ADDITIONAL DETAILS-\n\nLOCATION\: Alumni House &amp\; Visitor Center\n\nMAP\: 11150 North Campus Dr.\, Allendale\, MI 49401\n\nPARKING\: Available in the circle drive\, side lot\, and overflow lot at the Alumni House.
