Avis is the Joint Academic Coordinator for the History and Modern Languages and Literatures Departments. She coordinates student affairs and outreach, communications, marketing, alumni outreach, events, administrative operations, as well as supporting faculty in their day-to-day needs.

Prior to working for GVSU, she worked for various law firms and non-profits. Her concentration for her J.D. was general practice, solo, and small firm. At Alma College, she double majored and earned her BA in Foreign Service and Political Science. While at Alma, she was a member of the Model United Nations Team and played for the Women’s Tennis Team.  

Avis is a certified Master Gardener through MSU and enjoys attempting urban homesteading practices. She is currently taking courses at GVSU to earn a Master of Public Administration degree and is always looking for someone to play tennis with.
