Financial IQ Winners

The GVSU Human Resources Health & Wellness teamed up with TIAA-CREF to host the “Save Up Your Savings Challenge” during the month of February. Participants had to complete a new financial task every day, which gave them the chance to test their financial IQ. At the end of the challenge, participants were randomly selected as winners of brand new iPad minis!

The winners of the challenge are now revealed! Congratulations Robyn Toth, Lisa Surman-Haight, and Alexianna Mundy!

Once they heard about the financial challenge, participants took action and wanted to see how much knowledge they had about finances.

“As a recent graduate, I am very new to managing my finances and things like preparing for retirement and emergency situations. So I wanted to take advantage of the resources available to us at Grand Valley,” said Mundy, University Marketing Adjunct Production Artist.

The game formatting of the challenge made the experience very enjoyable for the participants.

“I think any time you can engage the community, whether individually or department-wise it’s a nice break from the norm,” said Surman-Haight, Executive Assistant - Office of the Provost and Faculty Governance Assistant.

The challenge brought into perspective how the smallest things can impact finances.

“All information is good. Just having the opportunity to have someone give you that information so I don’t have to read 12 pages. The information is good to think about and will help you make decisions in the future,” said Toth, Honors College Assistant.

These individuals are all glad they participated in the Save Up Your Savings Challenge and highly recommend others to give it a shot next year!
