Jackelyn Palmas
Jackelyn Palmas is a fourth-year student at Grand Valley State
University majoring in Biology with an emphasis in Genetics and
minoring in Spanish. Jackelyn had a busy summer before her senior year
as she volunteered at the Grand Rapids YWCA and Holland Free Health
Clinic. At GVSU she has been heavily involved, her top leadership
highlights were being the President of Latino Student Union and a
Peer-Mentor for Laker Familia for 2 years. She also spent a few
summers being an Orientation Leader for the Admissions Office and a
Camp Navigator for the Office of Charter Schools. As for career
aspiration, she wants to go into Genetic Counseling since it combines
her passion for science and her passion for advocating and educating
underrepresented groups in the community. Jackelyn looks forward to
Cook Leadership as she hopes to gain confidence in networking and
build meaningful connections with her cohort peers and mentor. Outside
of academics, Jackelyn enjoys reading, car trips, traveling, going to
concerts, spending time with family and friends, and watching movies
on Tuesdays.
