Shakanah Harlan
Shakanah Harlan, a junior at Grand Valley State University, pursuing
a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies and Political Science, along
with a Paralegal Certificate and a minor in Accounting. She currently
serves as Vice President of Alpha Phi Sigma, Grand Valley's Criminal
Justice Honor Society, and as Interim President of the university's
NAACP chapter. This past summer, Shakanah interned at the Third
Circuit Court of Michigan under the Honorable Judge Green, gaining
hands-on experience in legal research, courtroom procedure, and
professional ethics. Her career goal is to attend law school
immediately after undergrad, with current interests in corporate law,
criminal law, and environmental law. Outside of her academic and
leadership roles, she enjoys experimenting with new matcha recipes and
spending time at the beach, especially Grand Haven.
