David Arellano
David Arellano, a first-generation Latino student, is currently in
his senior year at Grand Valley State University. He is pursuing a
double major in Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience. With years of
experience in community-building, David’s goal is to create inclusive
spaces that provide safe havens for individuals to feel supported and
connected. David’s leadership experience spans various areas on
campus. He has served as a Laker Familia Mentor, Campus Navigator for
Charter Schools, and a TRIO Upward Bound Tutor. Each role demonstrates
his commitment to uplifting youth navigating high school and college
life. As a past Resident Assistant and an active member of the GVSU
Housing team, David continues to foster a sense of belonging and
mentorship within the student community. He currently holds the
position of President of the Latino Student Union and actively
participates in Monarcas Baile Folklórico, Destinos, Laker Familia,
and Latinos in Healthcare. David’s passion lies in building meaningful
connections and seizing opportunities for personal and professional
growth. He eagerly anticipates continuing this journey through his
participation in the Cook Leadership Academy.
