Caleb Worpel
Caleb Worpel is a senior at Grand Valley State University, studying
multimedia journalism, with plans to begin his graduate program in
communications in winter 2026. He served in the United States Air
Force as a military journalist, earning numerous national accolades
for his work, including displays at the Pentagon related to the F-35
program. Caleb is also a Distinguished Honor Graduate from the
Department of Defense Public Affairs Training Program at the Defense
Information School in Fort Meade, Maryland. After a nearly two-year
battle with cancer, he was medically retired from the Air Force in
2019.
At GVSU, Caleb is actively involved with the Peter Secchia
Military and Veterans Resource Center, where he supports military and
veteran students. In his current role as a Community Outreach
Specialist for Ottawa County Veterans Services, Caleb works to connect
veterans with vital resources and organizes community events to
enhance their well-being. He also serves as a media consultant for the
Ottawa County Community Corrections Advisory Board, utilizing his
extensive background in public affairs and media relations to support
local initiatives.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Caleb
finds joy in spending time with his wife, Rebecca, and their two
children, enjoying the outdoors, meeting new people, and tending to
their West Michigan homestead, which includes two dogs, six chickens,
and a cat.
