Mackenzie Guigar
Mackenzie Guigar received her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Allied
Health Sciences from Grand Valley State University in 2020 as a
first-generation college student. She is now pursuing her Master’s
degree with GVSU’s Physician Assistant Studies Program and will
graduate in December 2022 after a full year of clinical rotations in
Muskegon, Michigan.
She has health care experience as a personal care assistant,
working with patients who have dementia and Parkinson’s disease. She
also worked as a medical scribe in several different Grand Rapids
Emergency Departments. Connecting with and caring for patients gives
her the motivation to finish graduate school and become a well-rounded
Physician Assistant in the Greater Grand Rapids area. Her medical
specialty interests include cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, and
emergency medicine.
Outside of school, Mackenzie loves to spend time with friends and
family, read any kind of interesting novel, and cross-stitch fun
patterns. Mackenzie enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors, and has
traveled to Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and Colorado with her boyfriend.
While in Utah, they were given the opportunity to rappel down a
300-foot canyon!
Mackenzie is a first-year Cook Leadership Academy Fellow
Candidate who is eager to learn and grow both professionally and
academically. She hopes to network and build long-term relationships
with fellow members of the CLA and hopes to improve her communication,
interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
