Panel Event: America's "New Normal"
Date and Time
Thursday, November 19, 2020 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
The RSVP deadline has passed for this event.
“When will our lives get back to normal?” By looking to
leaders across society, the United States must use a holistic approach
to establishing our new normal. The Hauenstein Center, in partnership
with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation and the Gerald R. Ford
Presidential Library and Museum, is pleased to present a panel of West
Michigan leaders to discuss America’s “new normal.” Panelists will
share their perspectives on COVID-19, the 2020 election, and other
seismic shifts in our economy and society in recent years. The panel
will feature Tina Freese Decker, President and CEO of Spectrum Health;
Paul Isely, professor of economics at Grand Valley; Winnie Brinks,
State Senator of Michigan’s 29th District; and Jeffrey Polet,
professor of political philosophy at Hope College. Gleaves Whitney,
executive director of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation will
moderate this panel.
We are as eager as all of you are to resume the Hauenstein Center’s thought-provoking in person events. Though in these tumultuous times, in order to comply with the Governor’s executive orders, the CDC recommended guidelines, and Grand Valley’s current policies, our fall lineup will be offered digitally. The very first opportunity we have to go back to in person events, we will do so, so stay tuned!
