One day after being elected the fifth, and first woman, president of Grand Valley State University, Philomena V. Mantella spent the day touring campus buildings meeting students, faculty, staff members and even Louie the Laker.

Tour stops included the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences, University Development, John C. The Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Mantella to the presidency during a special board meeting held on the Allendale Campus January 22. She will begin her duties July 1. Read the full story here.
