More than 100 alumni and current students are expected to perform during the Voices of GVSU 30th Year Reunion Concert, set for Sunday, April 22.

"Anchored" will begin at 4 p.m. in the Thomas J. and Marcia J. Center for Performing Arts. The concert is free and open to the public.

Cassonya Carter, senior academic advisor for the Kirkhof College of Nursing, is the choir's director. She said many of the choir's community partners and other collegiate choirs are expected to attend.

Carter, who earned degrees from Grand Valley in 1991 and 1997, established Voices as a student in 1987. Since that time, the choir has conducted recruitment tours, sang for Grammy-winning gospel artists, performed at signature Grand Valley events and throughout Michigan and Chicago at collegiate gospel concerts and other events.

In 2016, the choir sponsored a concert in Flint for residents affected by that city's water crisis.
