Physical Therapy Student Nominated for Prestigious Award

The Physical Therapy Department has nominated Crystal Lamb for the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Outstanding Student Physical Therapist Award. This award is given to one student each year and is selected from nationwide nominations. Crystal’s nomination comes with a great amount of support from both DPT faculty as well as the president of the Michigan Physical Therapy Association (MPTA), which Crystal serves as the Student Core Ambassador for the state.

Crystal is in her third year of the rigorous graduate program at GVSU and is a top academic performer in her class. She is described as a “natural leader” in both the classroom, in clinical placements, and within her position with the MPTA. Crystal is committed to serving diverse, underrepresented and underserved individuals in her profession and has gone above and beyond her program’s requirements, by providing a pro bono maintenance exercise program to an adult with cerebral palsy. She also strives to provide mentorship to second year DPT students, adding to her positive peer relationships.

“Crystal is a standout in our profession. I have never met a student who is so passionate about the big picture – becoming an evidence-based practitioner and advocating for the profession. In my 35 years in PT education I have never met a student who meets the purpose of this award in a more outstanding way” says MPTA president, Dr. Susan Ann Talley. We wish Crystal the best of luck and congratulate her on her nomination for this prestigious award.
