Biomedical Engineering Graduate Receives Technology Rising Star Award

Nadia Sunny, a graduate of the Master of Biomedical Engineering program, received an honorable award this year. Nadia attributes the accomplishment to her educational experience at GVSU and the support she received from her professors. She was acknowledged as a Women of Color (WoC) “Technology Rising Star” at the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) conference this year. The awards and conference are sponsored by businesses like GM, Consumers Energy, JP Morgan Chase, and various universities. Nadia is recognized for her creative innovation and inspiration, and she is honored among STEM professionals in the United States. People who receive this award are screened from nominations based on education and professional achievements that are in the arenas of their STEM professions. Nominees and awardees range from entry level to top level professionals. Nadia’s nomination was made by her employer, Aerotek. She was recognized for her educational background, academic and professional achievements, and feedback from colleagues and managers. “This is my first public recognition for my profession,” Nadia is appreciative for having professors at GVSU who trusted in her abilities.
