GVSU graduate Students presented at the 9th annual midwest graduate research symposium

Grand Valley State University was among the selected institutions invited to attend The University of Toledo’s 9th Annual Midwest Graduate Research Symposium (MGRS). This event has been recognized as a great opportunity for presenting research, networking, and fostering intercollegiate friendships and collaborations. The MGRS took place this past weekend on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at The University of Toledo. Scheduled events included oral and poster presentations, professional development workshops, a Q&A session, an awards ceremony, and ended with dinner and a keynote address.
Several GVSU students were chosen to disseminate their graduate research at this exciting event. Anna Barry, a graduate student in the Cell and Molecular Biology program presented her research titled, “Bulk Analysis of Glycan Expression in Pancreatic Cancer Cell Lines.” Kaitlin Reed, a graduate student in the Social Work program presented her research titled, “The Breast Kind of Tattoos: A Study on Mastectomy Tattoos.” Sarah Thompson a graduate student in the Cell and Molecular Biology program presented her research titled, “Enhancement of Fast Scan Cyclic Voltammetry detection of dopamine with tryptophan.” Jamie Cole and Shreya Paithankar, graduate students in the Medical and Bioinformatics Program presented their research titled, “How Does the Usability of Electronic Health Records Impact Provider Efficiency and Patient Safety? A Literature Review.” And, Erin Reasoner, a graduate student in the Cell and Molecular Biology program presented her research project titled, “Saturated fatty acids impair organellar trafficking in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) sensory neurons.”
