Public Health Alum Publishes Book
May 04, 2022
GVSU alum from the Master of Public Health program, Amanda Filkins, published her first book in July of 2021.
Filkins began writing by creating a blog, which further encouraged her to write her book, “Be Still.” The book is inspired by her religious faith where she also shares her perspectives and own personal stories. She hopes to give courage and inspiration to her readers, especially women who can relate to her past as mentioned in the book.
Filkins completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science in 2019 and her Master of Public Health degree in 2021. She is originally from East Michigan, but currently resides in Lowell with her husband and dog. She is passionate about health and her Christian faith. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, exercising, DIYing, spending time outside, and hanging out with friends and family. Interested readers can purchase her book on Amazon and on Barnes & Noble. For more information, please visit her website.
