Graduate Level Scholarship Opportunities

The Grand Rapids Community Foundation is offering several scholarships for the upcoming year. The Dorothy J. Thurston Graduate Scholarships and the Guy D. & Mary Edith Halladay Graduate Scholarships are offered to graduate-level students residing in Kent County. This is a one-time award that can range between $1,500 to $3,000. Generally, a minimum of 50 scholarships are awarded each year, and over $43,000 was awarded to graduate students last year.

These scholarships are for students with a permanent residence in Kent County, Michigan with either a minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students will be selected based on the information given on their General Scholarship Application, transcript records, and financial need form.

Awards are announced in May and paid to the recipient’s college in late June. Although it is a one-time award, recipients may re-apply each year. Submissions for these scholarships are due March 1, and the General Scholarship Application is available online at www.grfoundation.org.
