GVSU Master of Education Graduate Student Receives National Research Award

The National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) selected GVSU
graduate alum John A. Gipson (Master of Education '13) as a 2014
NACADA Student Research Award Winner. As a NACADA Student
Research Award Winner in the Master's Category he will be
honored at the special Awards Ceremony and Reception being held at the
annual NACADA Conference in Minneapolis this fall as part of the 2014
Annual Awards Program for Academic Advising. This recognition also
includes a $500 award.
John completed a master's thesis in 2013 on the experiences of
high-achieving African American college students. The research has
developed into a nationwide project that was conducted at 11
institutions in 2014.
