Description

The College of Health Professions (CHP) at Grand Valley State University has been serving the GVSU stakeholders and world campus by teaching effectively in various health professions, conducting health research, and providing health services to local, as well as, global populations.

The CHP's global activities include: 1) expanding faculty-student, faculty-faculty, and student-student coordination in terms of research and service; 2) exploring new study-abroad and practicum opportunities and sites; 3) expanding in-country and out-of-country research/service collaboration and 4) creating/strengthening global health partnerships in different world regions.

The College of Health Professions has created a Global Health Taskforce, consisting of faculty from CHP and the School of Social Work, which is organizing the 3rd Annual Global Health Showcase on Friday October 20, 2017.  The theme of the showcase is "Health is Holistic and Global" and will be held in the Charles W. Loosemore Auditorium in Grand Rapids.

The Showcase will include keynote speaker, Dr. Stephen Hodgins, a behavorial and global health expert who is also a faculty member at the University of Alberta and Senior Technical Advisor with Save the Children.  There will also be several platform presentations, and poster sessions for faculty and students, and free breakfast. It is a great opportunity for faculty and students to share their global health research and service work.

Registration is open through October 13 and abstracts are due by October 6.
